（1）In general, English songs can improve students’ interests of learning English. English songs can also attract students’ attention to the knowledge what they will learn. As well as, students can feel happier when they listen to the English songs. But English songs play different roles in different teaching procedures.

 In the part of “Lead-in”, students and the teacher sing the English song “Old MacDonald had a farm” together. Singing the songs can provide an English learning atmosphere for my students . At the same time, students can know they will learn some animals today. 

In the part of “consolidation”, students feel tired and some students cannot concentrate their attention. Students and the teacher can listen and sing the song “Old MacDonald had a farm” again. Students can imitate the different animals. In this way, students can not only relax themselves but also consolidate the words of animals that they have learnt.

（2）The teaching aims are as follows:

Knowledge aims:Students will be able to master the new words about animals such as chick/hen/duck/pig/dog/cat.Students can read and understand the important sentences:What are they?They’re…How many…?

Ability aim:Students can use the key sentences in practical situations by asking and answering questions each other in the class.

Emotional aim:After learning,students will know lots of animals and cherish them in their life.

1.Warming-up and Lead-in:

   At the beginning of the class, the teacher plays a song named “Old MacDonald Had a Farm”. Students can sing the song together. After that, the teacher asks one question “What can you hear in the song?”, then invites some volunteers to share their answers.

设计意图：这首英文儿歌，旋律简单，节奏明快，学生能够很快随着音乐进行跟唱，营造了良好的学习氛围。而且这首歌曲的歌词包含关于动物的单词，与本节新课的核心话题息息相关，能够自然地引出新课。

2. Practice.

Activity 1 “waterfall” game. 

The teacher introduces the rule of the game firstly. When the teacher says “They are pigs”, the first student should say “They are pigs and they are hens. ”, the second student should say “They are pigs, they are hens and they are dogs. ” the third student should say “They are pigs, they are hens, they are dogs and they are cats. ”...Students continue to add more objects until someone makes a mistake.

Activity 2 Role-play

Students work in pairs to do a role-play. They should talk about animals shown on the PPT by using the new sentences “What are they?” “They are...” “How many...” Then some of them will be invited to show their performance.

3. 设计意图：这两个练习活动一方面可以帮助学生掌握本节课的新单词和新句子，另一方面可以增加课堂的互动性和趣味性，调动学生参与课堂活动的积极性。
